The UVA Departments of Pathology, Surgery, and Anesthesiology collaborated with the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia to host an annual community event that welcomed local middle school students for a day of hands-on learning and exposure to the field of medicine. After a light breakfast, introductions, and a Q&A, the students broke off into smaller groups and rotated through several medical activities. Pathology residents Ansley Scott, Nouran Sinada, Natalie Hillerson, and Tappy Gish hosted the anatomy lab table, where students could observe and touch autopsy organs to learn about normal anatomy and various disease processes. This event was organized by the Housestaff Community Development Initiative (HCDI).
