Public Health Sciences and Community-Based Health Equity Research Program (CBHE) research was recently presented at the Virginia Public Health Association (VPHA) Annual Conference in Richmond, VA. The research highlighted iSIPsmarter, an RCT to evaluate the efficacy, reach, and engagement of a technology-based behavioral and health literacy intervention to reduce sugary beverages among rural Appalachian adults. Two posters, titled, “Understanding engagement and retention of adults in the medically underserved Appalachian region in a digital behavioral health intervention to reduce sugar-sweetened beverage intake” and “Findings from an exploratory, mixed-methods study regarding Biobank participation among adults in Appalachia and surrounding areas” were presented by CBHE team members, Annie Reid, MPH, RDN, CHES and Teace Markwalter, MPH, CHES.
