Virginia All-Payer Claims Data
The Department of Public Health Sciences has been given permission to manage de-identified APCD data provisioning to researchers at UVA, in accordance with our Data Use Agreement with Virginia Health Information (VHI). Data is currently available from:
2016 through 2024
Cost: PHS provides data at a discounted rate, compared to Virginia Health Information (VHI), for researchers at UVA. We cannot provide data outside of UVA; this includes external collaborators. Please contact us for more information on current rates.
Data Request Process
Researchers wishing to use the APCD must complete the following steps prior to PHS provisioning the data:
- A Data Request Form must be submitted directly to VHI online.
- VHI will notify PHS directly once the request has been approved.
- Once approval has been received by PHS, we will reach out to the researcher to complete a data/investigator agreement, invoicing, and any additional questions.
- Data will be provided on the garnet server (in the high security zone). The data location may be mapped from the users’ computer (see instructions here). The data may not be moved from this server without express permission. Project personnel are responsible for obtaining access to the server, if needed, from ITS.
The data will be made available for an initial one year period from the date of data provisioning.
Data Analysis Help
PHS can help analyze VA APCD data through collaboration and consulting support. Costs for analyzing data will be estimated separately from data requests. For more information, submit a PHS Collaboration & Consultation request form; select VA APCD as the data source in the request.
