Professor Emeritus Randolph Canterbury Awarded for USMLE Service

Randolph J. Canterbury

In recognition of more than 25 years of service to the US Medical Licensing Examination (Step 3) program, Randolph J. Canterbury, UVA Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and former Wilford W. Spradlin Professor, recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Professor Emeritus Canterbury started his work with the USMLE in 1996 upon the nomination of the American Psychiatric Association, serving in a variety of roles until 2023. In addition to those years of service to the USMLE (Step 3), Dr. Canterbury also chaired the Special Purpose Examination Committee and the Post Licensure Assessment System.
