University of Virginia Substance Use Helpline

The University of Virginia Substance Use Helpline is a cost free helpline that provides resources for individuals concerned about their substance use or the use of a loved one. Individuals have direct access to a live behavioral support specialist, who will help answer questions and provide education, support and referrals to community resources.

  1. Education on signs and symptoms of substance withdrawal and how to manage them
  2. Individualized phone coaching sessions to address concerns related to substance use
  3. Online mindfulness audio-recordings with guided meditation
  4. Techniques to promote healthier activities and decision-making
  5. Information and referrals to medication assisted treatment clinics and other resources
  6. Support for coping and reducing dependency on any substance
