James Stone, MD, Receives Grants from U.S. Navy

Dr. James Stone, our newly appointed Vice Chair of Research, recently received a grant award from the Navy Advanced Medical Development Fund in the amount of $527,244 for a research study on “Endovascular placement of aortic occlusion balloon utilizing active non-fluoroscopic guidance.” The Advanced Medical Development Program Office supports the business and scientific research of advanced medical devices.

Additionally, Dr. Stone was awarded $105,000 from the Office of Naval Research for a grant to study  “Guided human-machine interaction:  An application towards automated pathology detection in a traumatic brain injury population”.

Thanks to the efforts of researchers like Dr. Stone and others, the UVA Department of Radiology is helping turn today’s imaging research into tomorrow’s clinical care.

    I was told to remove my uterus in order to remove the Fibroids. I don’t feel comfortable about Esterctomy surgery. I would like to consider MI procedure
