A: The program will start Wednesday, May 28, 2025 and end Friday, August 1, 2025.
A: At this time our funding sources require that our interns be a U.S. citizen or hold a permanent resident visa. We are unable to admit individuals who do not meet the residency requirements.
A: During the week, students will be conducting research in the lab. In addition, all students attend weekly Friday morning physician-scientist presentations and communication workshop.
Students will submit an abstract about their research for NIH reporting and give an oral presentation at the SMRI/SRIP symposium at the conclusion of the program.
A: Students can select to work 8, 9 or 10 research weeks. Students are paid $6,000 for 10-weeks of research work and the amount is prorated for 8- or 9- week commitments.
Payment is biweekly or in installments depending on the funding source supporting the intern position.
A: We will make offers beginning early March.
A: Yes, all participants in laboratory research must provide health insurance documents and additional paperwork prior to the program start.
A: If you are currently enrolled in another U.S. medical school and are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident visa holder, you are eligible to apply.
