Leadership & Professional Development
WIMN is committed to the success of our faculty and trainees. Our goal is to advance the academic progress and professional development of women faculty and trainees through education, advocacy, mentoring and networking.
The principles of this subcommittee are:
- To provide opportunities for women to acquire the skills and strategies necessary for their professional advancement
- To provide programs to enhance understanding of the business of medicine
- To cultivate leadership and personal advocacy skills
- To assure that women attain senior faculty ranks and leadership positions
- To influence policies that advance women
- To identify and address barriers to professional advancement
- To facilitate mentorship for women faculty, staff, trainees, and students
- To provide networking opportunities within the Department and the larger University community
WIMN’s Leadership Series
This series is a partnership between WIMN and the UVA Center for Leadership Excellence that focuses specifically on young female professionals to help develop self-awareness and personal leadership skills
WIMN’s Business of Medicine Series
This series was developed to enhance understanding of finances and policy that affect our scope of practice
