WIMN was founded in 2015 as a Department of Medicine (DOM) initiative to support women faculty and trainees’ professional and personal growth. The three pillars that form the foundation and guiding principles of the WIMN work are:

• Community – Build community and relationships among DOM women faculty and trainees
• Advocacy – Advocate for issues that affect women in the DOM
• Professional Development – Promote advancement and provide professional development opportunities for women in the DOM
