Huiwang Ai has been selected as a Pinn Scholar for 2023-2026. The Pinn Scholars program is named in honor of Dr. Vivian Pinn who was a graduate of the UVA School of Medicine Class of 1967. She is a member of the National Academies of Science, a fellow in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and past president of the National Medical Association. She was also the inaugural Director of the Office of Research on Women’s Health at the National Institutes of Health.
Pinn Scholars are mid-career faculty selected on the basis of their scientific expertise and research productivity, contributions to the School of Medicine and to the greater research community, including mentoring and service. They are to develop a new project or direction in their research and share their results at an annual symposium. Dr. Ai’s Pinn Project is “In Vivo Proximity Labeling to Profile Tumor Changes in Response to Therapy”.
Also, the UVA Board of Visitors has approved the promotion of Dr. Ai to be Professor of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics, effective July 1, 2023.
