Evans is a synthetic chemist interested in designing and synthesizing novel compounds for material and biomedical applications. He has skills and expertise in organic synthesis, inorganic synthesis, the design and synthesis of air- and moisture-sensitive organometallic complexes, homogeneous catalysis, and computational chemistry.
