Developing Healthcare Ethics Programs
The Center for Biomedical Ethics and Humanities
University of Virginia School of Medicine
This intensive 4-day training program is designed for practicing health care professionals who wish to develop healthcare ethics and moral distress consultation knowledge and skills, and as a refresher/preparation course for consultants pursuing Healthcare Ethics Consultation Certification (HEC-C) from the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH). The training will emphasize the four content domains for certification determined by the ASBH.
FORMAT: This interactive training program will combine didactic sessions with hands-on exercises and attendance at UVA’s weekly Healthcare Ethics and Moral Distress Consult Services meeting. The number of participants will be strictly limited to ensure a personalized learning environment. Participants will have options to eat meals together and with faculty,
allowing for informal conversation and networking.
