Summary: This is a wonderful recognition of Ed’s seminal contributions to science and another well-deserved honor. In 2019, Ed was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. Each year, the Council elects members whose “efforts on behalf of the advancement of science, or its applications, are scientifically or socially distinguished.” The Council elects Fellows deliberately and carefully to preserve the honor attached to this recognition.
Ed’s being honored: : For distinguished contributions to the fields of biophysics and structural biology, particularly for the development of understanding of the structure and function of protein and nucleoprotein polymers.
The honor of being elected a Fellow of AAAS began in 1874 and is acknowledged with a certificate and rosette.
