Research Description
Cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging is a powerful technology that has evolved into a comprehensive imaging approach to cardiovascular disease. A major focus of our work is on developing clinical applications of cardiovascular MRI. Active clinical protocols include a multicenter study improving risk prediction in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, developing a comprehensive MR exam for clinical trials in peripheral arterial disease including atherosclerotic plaque imaging and calf muscle perfusion and energetics at peak exercise, and assessing quantitative myocardial perfusion in microvascular coronary artery disease.
Other clinical studies include atherosclerotic plaque regression studies with PCSK9 inhibitors, quantitative myocardial functional imaging as a measure of dyssynchrony in heart failure, and T1 mapping of myocardial fibrosis in different myocardial disease states.
