  • Q: What is iLab?

A: iLab is an integrated, web-based management system that facilitates the administration of research cores and shared resources. It simplifies the process of booking equipment, requesting services, managing billing, and tracking usage. The iLab system is designed to streamline the management of university services, making it easier for you to focus on your research.

  • Q: How do I get started with an iLab account?

A: Instructions for creating an iLab account can be found at iLab – Research Core Administration

  • Q: Why did I receive a charge from the Clinical Trials Unit / Why am I being asked to enter a WorkTag into iLab?

A: The Clinical Trials Unit is charged with processing and invoicing the IRB fees (initial review, continuations and close-out) and the study management fees that are applied to all industry-sponsored studies. Additionally, if you have utilized the services of a CTU team, those charges will be processed in iLab. Each charge has its own label in iLab so it will always be clear what the charge is for.

  • Q: What are the fees?

Beginning on July 1, 2024, the University of Virginia implemented a new clinical trial management fee for industry-sponsored clinical trials requiring full board IRB review. The clinical trial management fee reflects costs associated with supporting operations related to the conduct of clinical trials. It is a one-time fee of $5,000.00 and applies to all studies for which the Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA) is executed on or after July 1, 2024.
