Dr. Russell specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of common and uncommon skin cancers including Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Melanoma, Atypical fibroxanthoma, dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, microcystic adnexal carcinoma, sebaceous carcinoma, and other rare skin tumors. He also treats nail tumors and rhinophyma
Biography
Dr. Russell was born and raised in central Ohio. He graduated from the Ohio State University with a BS in Nutrition and his medical degree. After graduating medical school, Dr. Russell completed his internship at Riverside Methodist hospital in Columbus, Ohio before completing his residency in Dermatology at Vanderbilt University. After residency, Dr. Russell completed a fellowship in Mohs and Dermotologic Surgery at Vanderbilt, followed by a fellowship in Dermatopathology at the University of Virginia. He is an expert in the Mohs technique and one of the few fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons who is also board-certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology. Dr. Russell has lectured nationally and has published numerous articles. He has completed leadership courses through the University of Virginia and the American Academy of Dermatology, and has held national office at the American College of Mohs Surgery. He has won the Dean’s Award for Clinical Excellence at the University of Virginia, and has been awarded Best Doctor, Top Doctor, and Top Doctor for Cancer recognition.
