Research Description
Dr. Thompson-Lake is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the UVA School of Medicine. She is also Associate Director of the newly established Center for Neuromodulation Research. Her work develops and translates novel neuromodulation approaches, including low-intensity focused ultrasound, for the treatment of substance use and other psychiatric disorders. Dr. Thompson-Lake has extensive expertise in clinical trials and multimodal neuroimaging, integrating MRI, spectroscopy, and EEG with both Bayesian and Frequentist statistical approaches. Her research targets stimulant, opioid, alcohol, and tobacco use disorders, as well as behavioral addictions and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her research aims to improve precision, safety, and accessibility of neuromodulation indentations.
