Understanding how exposures in the intestine can influence the broader immune system.
My current research focuses on understanding how immune responses in the intestine can influence the broader immune system. I am exploring how alteration of mucosal immunology by commensal bacteria and pathogens can influence the systemic immune response and secondary challenge with pathogens via innate trained immunity. I am also exploring the related concept of how environmental enteropathy, enteric infection and systemic inflammation in infants can alter respiratory outcomes.
