Research

Dr. Li is very active in both basic science and clinical research and has presented at national and international meetings. He has developed a renowned laboratory focusing on intervertebral disc degeneration pathology and treatment with stem cells, nanotechnology and gene therapy. Dr. Li has been the recipient of about 20 grants as the Principle Investigator including three NIH (National Institute of Health R03, R21 and R01) grants. Perhaps the greatest recognition that an Orthopaedic Researcher can receive in our field is the Kappa Delta Award. Recipients of this award are judged based on the sum total of all of the work that the individual as accomplished to date. Dr. Li received the Kappa Delta Young Investigator award in 2012.
