This year, we had the honor of welcoming Dr. Erika Holzbaur, William Maul Measey Professor of Physiology at University of Pennsylvania, as the 2024 Todorovic Distinguished Lectureship seminar speaker. Dr. Holzbaur’s lab focuses on the mechanisms of trafficking of intracellular vesicles and organelles in neurons, centering on dynein and its activator dynactin, and the diseases that can result from impairment of these mechanisms.
The Todorovic Distinguished Lectureship is an annual seminar funded by the MSTP Todorovic Fund that brings renown scientists and physician-scientists to UVA for a 2-day visit. As part of the visit, the selected speaker will give a one-hour talk on their research and have lunch with MSTP students. The speaker is nominated and voted on by the MSTP student body. The MSTP Scientific Committee is then charged with planning and organizing the event.
