Pre-Med Mentoring
Pre-Med Mentoring
The Pre-Med Mentorship Program at UVA plays a pivotal role as a bridge between the School of Medicine and undergraduate students eager to pursue a career in medicine. This initiative is designed to equip premed students with tools and resources, not just for successful medical school applications but also for thriving careers in the healthcare field. This year, co-chairs and Khadra Omar and Lauryn Ridley have engaged with hundreds of students through a series of enriching workshops and panels. A highlight of this year’s events was a fall presentation by the UVA School of Medicine’s Associate Dean of Admissions, Dean John J. Densmore, who provided invaluable insight on what admission panels look for in candidates. Additionally, this year marked the debut of office hours, offering a new avenue for premed students to seek direct advice and answers in a welcoming, face-to-face setting. Beyond these initiatives, the program has also enhanced its outreach by facilitating and collaborating on numerous networking opportunities with pre-med students from various colleges and high schools. Looking ahead, the program is committed to expanding its offerings to continuously support UVA’s premed students.
