About

The Nephrology Clinical Research Center (NCRC) offers a unique opportunity for kidney-focused clinical research, located adjacent to the Kidney Center Clinic and Dialysis Unit. The NCRC provides clinical space, equipment, standard protocols, an on-site biorepository, and professional staff to conduct patient-oriented studies, clinical trials, epidemiologic studies, and outcomes research. PhD-trained biostatisticians and data analysts dedicate time to support projects in the NCRC. We are excited to extend support to clinical research and data science projects conducted by our pre-and post-doctoral trainees within our IGNITE KUH training network and the UVA Nephrology fellowship program.

Our Core Mission is to improve the lives of people with kidney disease and advance scholarship in Nephrology and related fields by facilitating rigorous and relevant clinical research. Our portfolio of industry-oriented studies will help develop new treatments and diagnostics for kidney disease while providing our patients with opportunities to participate in trials. Our investigator-driven portfolio will pursue innovative research that answers fundamental questions in nephrology, translates existing knowledge into patient care, and inspires early-career faculty and trainees to pursue investigative careers.
