Current Radiology Global Health Participants Reflect on Experience in Uganda

Sonali Ranjit and Spencer Barrett were both drawn to residency at UVA in part because of the Spencer B. Gay Program. As second year residents with a passion for global health care and personal connections to Africa, they are thrilled to be in this program that builds partnerships with residents in Uganda and provides ongoing education opportunities.

During their first trip to Uganda in the Fall of 2018, they stepped out of their comfort zones to teach radiology residents. While working with residents to provide quality health care with limited resources, they both learned much about practicing patience and flexibility. They continue to have Skype lectures with the residents they met on their trip, and look forward to visiting again in their coming residency years.
