Dr. Luke Wilkins Awarded Funding from the Department of Defense and the American Cancer Society

Dr. Luke Wilkins, Associate Professor in Vascular and Interventional Radiology Division of the UVA Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging, has been awarded two grants for his research on embolization for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). He was awarded a 2019 Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program Career Development Award from the Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program for his study titled “Development of Novel Embolization Therapy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma.” Additionally, he was awarded a Research Scholar Grant from the American Cancer Society for his study titled “Preclinical Transarterial Embolization for Hepatocellular Carcinoma.” The two grants total approximately $1.4 million in funding over the next four years.
