Interventional Radiology Symposium Scheduled for September 21

Interventional Radiology Symposium - Saturday, September 21 from 8:30  a.m. to 3:00 p.m. | Free event | Educational Resource Center A & B, UVA Hospital | Learn about minimally-invasive, image-guided procedures through didactic lectures and hands-on simulations. Breakfast and lunch provided.Every fall, the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology holds a symposium that provides medical students with an overview of the imaging, anatomy, pathology and treatments pertinent to Interventional Radiology (IR). Participants will  learn about minimally-invasive, image-guided procedures through didactic lectures and hands-on simulations.

The 2024 IR Symposium will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 8:30am – 3:00pm, in Educational Resource Center A & B at the UVA Health Medical Center. This is a free event and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Medical students of any year who are interested in IR are invited to attend—and undergraduate students are also welcome.

9:20 a.m.: “What is IR?” with John Matson, MD

9:40 a.m.: “Intro to Breast Radiology and Global Health” with Timothy Rooney, MD

10:00 a.m.: Break

10:20 a.m.: IR Case Review with John (Fritz) Angle, MD

10:40 a.m.: IR Jeopardy with Luke Wilkins, MD

11:00 a.m.: IR Resident Panel / Lunch

12:00 p.m.: Industry/Tech Stations

3:00 p.m.: Symposium concludes
