Last Thursday, the Keats Alumni Society welcomed the 1st-year residents with special gifts: embroidered UVA Radiology fleece jackets.
The distribution of these jackets, personalized with each resident’s name, has become a tradition over the past few years. In addition to offering warmth and style, the fleeces signify how the new residents are an integral part of the department. Every resident in the department owns one of these jackets, as do many faculty and staff members.
The jacket ceremony was not the only event to welcome new trainees to UVA. Last month, the department also held its annual welcome event at Carter’s Mountain Orchard.
The jackets are sponsored by the Keats Alumni Society, which specifically serves UVA’s Department of Radiology and Medical Imaging. The society, in addition to serving as a gateway for connection between the generations of UVA Radiology, also offers financial support for current trainees’ academic and community-building pursuits in order to enhance their UVA educational experience.
