Resident Kaelyn Cummins, MD Awarded UVA Cancer Center Grant

Resident Kaelyn Cummins, MD was recently awarded $5,000 from the UVA Cancer Center for her project titled, “From Community Distress to Tumor Biology: Investigating Environmental and Genomic Links.” This award was part of the Population Health and Cancer Outcomes Core 2025 Research Funding. Reviewers described her work as ” an impactful initiative that addresses a critical and understudied area in cancer research…The focus on environmental pollutants as mediators adds depth to the study, offering actionable insights that can inform targeted interventions, drive future research, and shape policy recommendations to improve outcomes for socioeconomically disadvantaged populations.” Fantastic work, Dr. Cummins!
