Dr. Akram Zaaqoq Named TCV ICU Medical Director

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Zaaqoq has been appointed as the Medical Director of the Thoracic and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (TCV ICU) at the University of Virginia. Dr. Zaaqoq, an esteemed Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at UVA, brings a wealth of expertise to this critical role, including extensive experience in caring for critically ill surgical patients and managing mechanical circulatory support devices, such as ECMO. In this role, Dr. Zaaqoq will be responsible for overseeing the clinical operations of the TCV ICU, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care, and leading a multidisciplinary team in managing complex cardiothoracic and vascular cases. With his leadership, the TCV ICU will continue to advance innovation, foster collaboration, and provide world-class education and research opportunities.
