Ryan Lee, MD

Ryan Lee, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology who cares for patients in the intensive care unit and emergency department. His interests include managing patients on breathing machines, especially those with failing hearts or lungs. He also studies how the body works under stress and the overlap between emergency care and critical illness.

Dr. Lee was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, and attended the University of Richmond, where he double majored in biology and leadership studies. At Richmond, he was a member of the cross country and track and field teams and competed on the U.S. National Team as a junior at the World Mountain Running Championships. Dr. Lee attended medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He completed his emergency medicine residency at ChristianaCare in Newark and a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Maryland.

Dr. Lee is happy to return to Virginia, which he grew to call home during his undergraduate years. When he’s not working, he and his wife enjoy local vineyards and spending time outdoors.
