UPCOMING EVENT: From Idea to Research Design – The Steps Before Statistics with Biostatistician Dr. Siny Tsang

January 7, 2025 by Department Website Manager

The key to a good study is its research design – statistics are merely tools to answer your research questions. But first, what are your research questions? How do we make sure we are asking the right questions for your study? How can we utilize existing data to answer your research questions? What kind of data should we collect to answer your research questions?

In this workshop, we will be joined by our department’s biostatistician, Dr. Siny Tsang, to go over some of the fundamentals that researchers should consider when forming a research study. This workshop is geared towards those who are interested in research but finds it challenging to progress from the ideas phase into the research design phase. This workshop will be perfect for those who have half-baked research ideas, but have yet formulated their study into a research proposal.

Participants are encouraged, but not required, to come to the workshop with research ideas. Those who have existing research proposals are welcome to attend, and are encouraged to set up one-to-one in-person meetings to flush out specifics for their studies by completing this form.
