The UVA Women in Anesthesiology group hosted a successful Fertility for Female Physicians Event and Panel with guest speaker, reproductive endocrinologist Dr. Linnea Goodman on May 9th. The event was well attended – several women medical students, residents, and faculty from Ob/Gyn, Surgery, and Anesthesiology came to learn and discuss the fertility crisis amongst female physicians. Dr. Goodman gave a rich and empowering talk on cryopreservation of eggs and reproductive changes in women as they age. A panel of women physicians shared their personal stories, as well. Overall, it was an engaging and collegial event that strengthened ties among women physicians across multiple specialties. Thank you to co-chairs Dr. Vizzini and Dr. Walters for helping make this event a reality and to Robin Hardy-Small for helping with materials and food.
