Mai Sadaka Kadi is a passionate and accomplished Epidemiologist with a visionary outlook on community well-being. She is a visiting scholar at the University of Virginia, Center of Behavioral Health and Technology. Fluent in English, Arabic, Mai’s expertise lies in cancer epidemiology, family medicine, and public health. Her journey began at King Abdulaziz University, where she earned her Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree in 2005. Driven to make a difference, she pursued her Master of Public Health and Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Imperial College, London, from 2009 to 2016. Mai’s passion for Postgraduate health and well-being led her to volunteer as the Academic & Welfare Officer for Medicine at the Graduate Students’ Association. Her commitment to empowering others and advocating for well-being left a lasting impact.
At King Abdulaziz University as an Assistant Professor, she coordinated the Masters of Epidemiology & Biostatistics program in the Community Medicine Department. Her engaging communication and dedication to research have inspired a new generation of health advocates.
With a focus on public health challenges, Mai co-authored research papers on self-isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic and colorectal cancer screening advocacy. Her work has resonated among the most prominent educational institutions in KSA. Beyond her professional pursuits, Mai is a volunteer animal rescuer, enjoys art, painting and dancing. She intends to conduct large-scale population research in Saudi Arabia, effecting positive health policy changes.
Mai’s journey as an analytical, structured, and empowering Epidemiologist continues as a visiting scholar at UVA, pursuing knowledge and her skills towards technology applications in mental health.
