The major objective of the Institutional Research Grant Awards (IRG) is to help junior cancer investigators by providing “seed grants” to perform research in all areas of cancer including basic, clinical, population sciences, nursing, behavioral, psychological and other areas of research. The goal is to generate findings that support future applications for major external funding.
Award: Up to $50,000 (direct costs only) for 1 year.
Eligibility: Principal investigator must be within six (6) years of completing training. Investigators currently supported by national research awards such as R01, K00/R00 or equivalent are not eligible. However, investigators whose initial national grant was not renewed and are still at the level of assistant professor and within 6 years of their first appointment may apply. Non-tenure track faculty may apply.
