Associate Director for Clinical Administration

Blake Herring, MSN, RN, OCN, NE-BC

As Associate Director for Clinical Administration at the Cancer Center and Administrator of Cancer Services for UVA Health, Blake Herring, MSN, RN, OCN, NE-BC, is responsible for the adult oncology population’s clinical, financial and operational outcomes in partnership with the Oncology Service Line’s physician leadership. In addition, Mr. Herring is responsible for quality and process improvement, increasing access to care, improving the patient experience, and ensuring care coordination across the continuum of care in clinical settings. This is accomplished through collaboration with leaders across the Health System, the Cancer Center, and School of Medicine.

Previously, Mr. Herring was the Administrative Director of Oncology Services at Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto, California. He brings more than 16 years of clinical expertise in cancer care and has served in several leadership roles in inpatient and outpatient care and information technology at Stanford Health Care. He also served as the director of nursing for the Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego Health.

Mr. Herring earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from William Carey University and a master’s in nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington. He is oncology nurse certified, nurse executive board certified, and has expertise in health IT.
