UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center trainees successfully compete for extramural fellowships (see below) and are also eligible for UVACCC-sponsored internal award and fellowship programs targeted at promoting excellence in trainee research and engagement. These include Outstanding International Student Fellowships, Trainee Fellowships and Travel Awards.
Cancer Center Trainee Fellowship Awards
UVACCC has an annual call for proposals for its Trainee Fellowship awards. Up to $25,000 is available to support trainees who are performing cancer-focused research under the mentorship of UVA Cancer Center members. This support can be in the form of funds for salary, supplies, or travel with the proper justification. Apply here.

CRTEC Graduate Student Fellowship for Collaborative Drug Discovery Project
UVACCC has an annual call for proposals for a graduate student trainee working on small molecule/drug discovery projects designed to identify small molecules to target novel proteins in cancer therapy. This 1 year fellowship (tuition and stipend) funds a student involved in a collaborative project between two Cancer Center mentors from complementary but different fields, where one mentor focuses on more basic research, and one is more translational. Priority will be given to projects where the formation of the collaborative team meaningfully impacts the project, student training, and the translational pipeline. Apply here.
