Mar 25 “Pannexin 1 Channel Function and Regulation in Neuropathic Pain” – Pharmacology Dissertation Defense by Janelle Weaver

March 25, 2016 by zrb8mf@virginia.edu

[BEC (McKim 1023)] Janelle Weaver is a PhD Candidate in the Pharmacology Graduate Program and a student in Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). She is interested in ion channels, how they function in normal, physiologic settings and how they are alternated in disease states. In particular, she wants to understand how specific channels (like pannexin channels) are regulated under pathophysiologic conditions, and whether these channels could be targets of novel medical treatments. Her research has been mentored by Douglas Bayliss, Joseph and Frances Larner Professor and Chair of Pharmacology.
