Lianna started her career in clinical research in January 2020. From personal experience Lianna’s dreams, desires and passion to help others with Diabetes has finally come true. She never thought that one day she would take part in lessening the burdens of Diabetes and hopefully one day contribute to the cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
Lianna grew up on Long Island NY, not loving the hustle and bustle of the big city, she attended college at Radford University in Virginia and graduated with a BS in Recreation Management and Leisure Services. In the year 2000, after graduating from Radford she moved to Charlottesville where she had a successful career as a Recreational Supervisor for the City of Charlottesville Parks and Recreation for 15 years. Even though her career was exciting and memorable, Lianna longed for something else that she felt would hopefully be “The Dream Job” where she would be able to better other people’s lives in the medical field. She furthered her education and had other jobs dealing with medical billing and coding, administrative medical assistant and patient care, but still she felt this was not enough. In January 2018, Lianna landed a career for UVA Continuum Home Health Care as an Administrative Assistant. Her supervisor at Continuum always encouraged Lianna to take as many educational classes as she could and always better herself. Through her pursuit of becoming the best she can, Lianna came across the Center for Diabetes Technology and started to investigate the role of a Clinical Research Coordinator. Lianna’s patients and aspirations payed off and she is now fulfilling her dream.
Personal Activities:
Lianna has a wonderful loving husband and a vivacious teenaged daughter. They live in Charlottesville including their 2 dogs and their 2 frisky cats. When she has some extra time on her hands away from her busy family life and career, Lianna loves to go hiking, camping, create masterpieces of different types of arts and crafts with her daughter, cooks gourmet meals and loves to travel especially taking cruises to the Caribbean.
