Palliative Care Program Named One of 11 Leadership Centers

The Palliative Care program at UVA, headed by Leslie Blackhall, MD, MTS, and part of the Emily Couric Cancer Center, has been named a Palliative Care Leadership Center by the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC).

According to CAPC’s website, leadership centers are selected for “their clinical excellence, outstanding reputation, and experience,” including the use of evidence-based best practices for palliative care. Such care helps patients cope with pain and other symptoms from a range of serious diseases, or from treatments for those diseases.
