DOM’s Brian Annex, MD (chief, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine) and Eric Houpt, MD (DOM’s vice chair for research) were formally inducted as members of the Association of American Physicians on April 22Election to the AAP is a highly competitive process that recognizes outstanding physician scientists.

Infectious Diseases chief Bill Petri, a 1999 AAP inductee who was present at this year’s ceremony, writes: “Altogether there are less than a 100 physicians from the U.S. inducted each year. And there are only a handful of medical schools with more than one inductee, so last night was particularly special. After election to the National Academy of Medicine, this is the highest honor for an academic physician-scientist.”
