The Richard F. Edlich Medical Student Research Award in Emergency Medicine

Joseph Koes, MD

Joseph Koes, MD, was recognized by Dr. Mark Sochor, Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, and Dr. Robert O’Connor, Chair and Professor of Emergency Medicine, on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017, as the recipient of the 2017 Richard F. Edlich Medical Student Research Award.   Dr. Koes was recognized for his research poster presentation on the “Mobile Computed Technology (CT): A Review of Prehospital Use in Stroke Treatment”.

The Richard F. Edlich Medical Student Research Award is supported by endowments raised by friends and colleagues of Dr. Edlich who shared his vision of the importance of research relationships between the university and industry.  Dr. Edlich was a champion for the development of the North Fork Research Park.   Dr. Joseph Koes is the 23rd recipient of the award that has been presented every year since 1995, previous awardees can be see here.

SAEM 2017 Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award

Dr. Ryan D. Gordon and Dr. J. Stephen Huff

Dr. Ryan D. Gordon was recognized on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, by Dr. J. Stephen Huff, Professor of Emergency Medicine, with the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) 2017 Excellence in Emergency Medicine Award.  Dr. Gordon has completed his time with the University of Virginia and is headed north to Delaware for his residency in Emergency Medicine.  Congratulations to Dr. Gordon, job well-done!
