Underdogs Take on DARPA Triage Challenge, Secure Third Place
In a Nutshell:
- DARPA organized a competition to improve trauma care decision-making by using data science to predict necessary LSIs in secondary triage.
- A team of UVA clinicians with data science expertise, including two MSDS graduates, competed successfully against well-funded teams.
- They used Python and data analysis libraries to develop models that predict LSIs from time-series physiological data.
