School of Medicine Faculty…

Do you want to build the habit of writing and advance your projects?
Curious about how a writing accountability group might support your work?
Looking for other faculty to form a group?

Join a writing accountability group (WAG)! A WAG is a small group of faculty writers who commit to working together for a set period of time. WAG members:

meet weekly for an hour at a regular time to check in on their goals, work together, and set goals for the upcoming week.
commit to tracking their goals and accomplishments.
support one another to make writing a habit and make progress on their work.

This fall, the Office of Faculty Affairs and Development is hosting a WAG Program for SOM faculty of all tracks and ranks. We’ll help you form groups based on mutual availability and provide resources to get you started and keep you going.

Track your progress.

What if faculty in my group don’t work in my area of expertise?

Writers do not need to be in the same area of specialization to join a WAG. WAGs are about developing the habit of writing among supportive colleagues. In fact, most WAG participants are surprised to discover how much they have in common with writers across different types of academic medicine and science, and find it energizing to meet new people at UVA.

Can I be matched with a colleague who is also interested?

Yes, we are happy to try to match you with other colleagues that also apply to the program. Be sure to indicate their name(s) on your registration form and be sure that you have indicated common available times.
