Programming and Rehabilitation

Programming:

Approximately 4 weeks following your surgery, you will return to the UVA Audiology Clinic for the initial activation of your cochlear implant sound processor.  This is a two day appointment, with each appointment scheduled for two hours.  Follow-up visits are scheduled on a weekly and then monthly basis for approximately the first six months.  Frequency of programming appointments following this period will be determined by you and your audiologist.  Children may require more frequent programming than adults.
