Linda Martin, MD Selected for IASLC Staging and Prognostic Factors Group
Congratulations to Dr. Linda Martin, who was selected to work on the next Lung Cancer Staging edition of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Every 3-4 years, over 100K lung cases from around the world are reviewed so that the T N M staging designations can be refined as technology and understanding of cancer biology evolves. This is a global project. Dr. Martin will serve on the “N” (node) committee with 6 other international members over the next several years. This work always results in several highly cited guidelines papers, which will raise visibility for UVA at an international level. Congratulations Dr. Martin for this well-deserved accomplishment and thank you for your willingness to contribute your expertise to this important cause!
Linda Martin, MD Co-Chairs Prestigious Global Conference on Lung Cancer
Dr. Linda Martin demonstrated exceptional leadership as one of four co-chairs at the World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC), which kicked off on September 7, 2024 in San Diego, CA. This global event gathered 7,000 attendees from around the world to discuss cutting-edge advancements in lung cancer care. In addition to her role as Co-Chair, Dr. Martin presented two abstracts, including one marking the conclusion of a 7-year clinical trial for which she was the Principal Investigator. She also moderated plenary sessions, organized a debate, and lead a press conference.
