Congratulations to Resident Adishesh Narahari, MD, PhD, whose project on TRPM7 in Lung Ischemia-Reperfusion (IR) Injury has been awarded the David J. Sugarbaker Surgical Resident Investigator Award from the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS). This highly competitive honor comes with $40,000 in funding for the 2025–2026 academic year, with the potential for an additional $40,000 the following year.
Dr. Narahari’s research explores how TRPM7 ion channels serve as critical signaling hubs in the inflammatory activation of alveolar macrophages during IR injury. His proposal received unanimous support from the AATS Resident Research Scholarship Committee and the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
