2011 Meeting

The 2011 meeting of the Virginia Research Resources Consortium was on January 28, 2011 at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.

Presentations on issues facing core laboratories, research resources at member institutions and discussion of future directions.

The second meeting of the Virginia Research Resources Consortium was on January 28th, 2011 in the Jordan Hall Conference Center, University of Virginia, Charlottesville. Snow that morning disrupted travel for some people.

In his introduction, Dr. Jay Fox of the University of Virginia outlined operation of research cores at the University of Virginia and described goals for the VRRC.

Dr. Greg Farber presented recent history of NIH support for research cores through the National Center for Research Resources.

EVMS, JMU, ODU, VBI/VT described research facilities at their institutions. Research facilities at other institutions are listed on the member list.

Sherry Lake of the University of Virginia library described forthcoming requirements for sharing and preservation of research data.

Participants split into three groups to discuss possible steps to facilitate use of research facilities by institutions in Virginia, and how research facilities can assist in education by institutions without major research facilities.
