Sarah Ratcliffe, PhD
Professor of Biostatistics
Sarah J. Ratcliffe is a biostatistician and Fellow of the American Statistical Association. She received her BS (Hons) in Mathematics from the University of Technology, Sydney and her Ph.D. in Statistics from Macquarie University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
With a background in statistics and computing, Ratcliffe’s work centers on improving biostatistics collaborations and research methods. She is an expert in predictive modeling analysis, longitudinal and functional data, and modeling informative dropout. Ratcliffe’s methods research has included the development of the random pattern-mixture model for informative dropout, functional logistic regression and functional accelerated failure time models.
Ratcliffe has served as statistical lead and data coordination center (DCC) director for numerous small, single center pilot studies to vast, multi-site international clinical trials. She has over 200 peer-reviewed publications in clinical research across multiple disease areas, including critical care, cardiology, neonatology and women’s health. Work in functional data analysis has led to developing applications in modeling labor curves and sleep data.
At CAMA, Ratcliffe oversees all data coordination and statistical analysis activities. She is currently the Director of the Research Methods core of the UVA CTSA grant and has served as PI/MPI for multiple research studies.
