Will Ashe, PhD
CAMA Data Scientist
Will Ashe is a data scientist and data manager for CAMA. He received his B.S. in Computer Engineering and Music and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Virginia.
Ashe’s research focuses on the mathematical analysis of time series data, with an emphasis on physiological monitoring and instrumentation with embedded systems.
He contributes to the NIH Bridge2AI Critical Care Data Generation Project (CHoRUS) as data manager of the Data Acquisition module and the lead data engineer for UVA’s contributions of multi-modal data from the electronic health record, radiological imaging, and bedside monitors. Dr. Ashe is a co-inventor of the Analysis of Respiratory Kinematics (ARK) system, applying inertial sensors to open problems in respiratory bedside monitoring. He also works on the Behavioral and Environmental Sensing and Intervention for Cancer (BESI-C) team, where he helps deploy a prototype system for collecting patient and caregiver perceptions of episodic cancer pain and determine correlations to environmental stimuli.
