Debamita Kundu, PhD, Joins Cancer Center Research Faculty

Kunda, DebamitaThe Cancer Center welcomes Assistant Professor of Public Health Sciences Debamita Kundu, PhD, to its Cancer Prevention and Population Health Program.

Dr. Kundu’s research interests include environmental health and cancer epidemiology, specifically cancer risk estimation due to environmental exposure, study design, analysis in cancer clinical trials, complex modeling of correlated cancer outcomes, longitudinal and survival analysis and high-dimensional data. In her research, Dr. Kundu focuses on developing novel Bayesian computational techniques for variable selection, shrinkage estimation, multi-outcome data modeling, simultaneous covariance estimation, factor models and the analysis of high-dimensional chemical mixture models.

Dr. Kundu earned her PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Louisville in August 2019. Before coming to UVA, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the National Cancer Institute’s Biostatistics Branch.
