Associate Director for Community Outreach & Engagement

Wendy Cohn, MEd, PhD

As the Associate Director for Community Outreach and Engagement, Wendy Cohn, MEd, PhD, leads the Cancer Center’s efforts to prevent cancer, reduce the cancer burden and improve cancer health equity in the catchment area. She convenes the Cancer Center’s Community Advisory Council, which provides recommendations and feedback to UVACCC. Dr. Cohn works extensively with the community to address identified needs and provide support for activities that address cancer risk factors, screening and survivorship.

Dr. Cohn is a Professor in Public Health Sciences with expertise in program planning and evaluation, implementation science, survey research, qualitative methods and community-engaged research. She has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on numerous federally funded grants, including the development of a cancer family health history decision-support tool integrated into an electronic medical record, internet-based interventions for distress in cancer patients, and increasing cancer screening in Federally Qualified Health Centers.
